http://entalpipendidikan.ppj.unp.ac.id/index.php/epk/article/view/604

Chemistry learning in higher education often faces obstacles such as low student participation and boredom, which impact learning outcomes. This study aims to analyze the effect of the implementation of icebreaking and rewards on the learning outcomes of chemistry students in the Basic Chemistry course. The study used a quantitative method with a quasi-experimental design. The research sample was students of the Chemistry Education Study Program selected through purposive sampling and divided into experimental and control groups. Treatment was given for eight meetings in the form of the implementation of ice breaking activities and the provision of rewards as motivational reinforcement. Learning outcome data were obtained through written tests that had been tested for validity and reliability, then analyzed using inferential statistics. The results showed that the average learning outcome score of the experimental group (79.74) was higher than that of the control group (73.30). The independent t-test showed a significant difference with a value of t(33) = 4.854 and p < 0.001, and an effect size of 1.41, which is considered large. These findings indicate that the implementation of ice breaking and rewards significantly improves student learning outcomes. Thus, the integration of these two strategies can be recommended as an innovative learning alternative to create a more interactive, motivational, and effective learning environment to improve student academic achievement.
Zuhrah Adminira Ruslan

http://entalpipendidikan.ppj.unp.ac.id/index.php/epk/article/view/498

Android-based learning media requires an effectiveness evaluation to assess the application of materials in schools. This study aims to evaluate the effectiveness of using Android-based Acidbase.apk chemistry learning media on acid and base materials on the learning outcomes of grade XI students at SMA Negeri 2 Bangko, compared to conventional learning methods applied at the school. This study used a Quasi Experiment design with pretest-posttest control group, and purposive sampling technique. Data were collected through student learning outcomes test. Data analysis was conducted with t-test and N-gain test. The calculation results show the tcount value (0.762) < ttable (1.995) and the significance value of 0.448 > α (0.05), so Ho is accepted and Ha is rejected. Based on the N-gain test, Android learning media is included in the low criteria with a normalised gain index of 0.28, while conventional learning is in the medium criteria with a normalised gain index of 0.44. Thus, the increase in learning outcomes using Android-based learning media is lower than the conventional method. In conclusion, computer-based applications or Android are not always effective in supporting learning outcomes. It is necessary to enrich the material on Android-based media, equipped with examples and questions, to help improve student learning outcomes to be more optimal.
Yenni KurniawatiRama Al Azmi ZegaMuhammad SafuanIswanda Iswanda

http://entalpipendidikan.ppj.unp.ac.id/index.php/epk/article/view/603

This study aims to determine the effect of the game-based learning model assisted by Nearpod media on student learning outcomes in hydrocarbon material in class XII. The method used is a quasi experimental with a nonequivalent control group design. Sampling used a purposive sampling technique with a population of 72 students consisting of 36 students of class XII IPA 1 (control class) and 36 students of class XII IPA 2 (experimental class). The research instrument was a multiple-choice test of 20 questions that had been tested for validation and reliability. Data were analyzed using parametric statistical techniques. The results of the posttest data hypothesis test using the t-test (Paired Sample Test) with a significance level of 5% obtained a value of .Sig (2-tailed) of 0.001 <0.05 so that H0 was rejected and H1 was accepted. The results of the analysis showed that the use of the game-based learning model assisted by nearpod had a significant effect on students' mastery of concepts in hydrocarbon material.
Alfia Nur FadhilaEvi Sapinatul BahriahDedi Irwandi

2026-06-302026-06-30798910.24036/epk.v7i2.603Analysis of the Relationship Between Economic Background and Access to Technology on Motivation to Study Chemistry
http://entalpipendidikan.ppj.unp.ac.id/index.php/epk/article/view/617

This study aims to analyze the socioeconomic background and access to technological resources of 10th-grade students at SMA Negeri 5 Padang, as well as their impact on motivation to learn chemistry. Using a descriptive survey approach with a cross-sectional design, data were collected from 36 students via a questionnaire and analyzed using descriptive statistics and Rasch modeling. The results indicate that the majority of students come from lower-middle-income families. There is a paradox: while 100% of students own smartphones, only 25% use them for learning. Although students’ intrinsic motivation was low, their extrinsic motivation regarding the need for digital media was very high, and Rasch analysis revealed that the highest motivation was actually found among students from low-income families with independent access to smartphones. Therefore, this study recommends the development of interactive, mobile-friendly, and data-efficient smartphone-based chemistry learning media to bridge the economic gap and enhance students’ learning motivation in an inclusive manner.
Syukri RamadhaniEka Yusmaita

2026-06-302026-06-309010410.24036/epk.v7i2.617Exploration of Bamboo Shoot Kimchi Fermentation in Inquiry-Based Food Chemistry Learning
http://entalpipendidikan.ppj.unp.ac.id/index.php/epk/article/view/621

Bamboo shoots are one of the abundant natural resources in West Kalimantan. Their potential as a fermented food is considerable because they contain carbohydrates similar to those found in napa cabbage, the primary ingredient used in kimchi. This study aimed to determine the product assessment of the taste, aroma, and texture of bamboo shoot kimchi in food chemistry learning using an inquiry-based approach. The inquiry stages included problem formulation, formulation of experimental objectives, hypothesis development, collection of data on tools, materials, and procedures, data analysis, and drawing conclusions. The research employed a quantitative descriptive method to describe the quality of bamboo shoot kimchi products and compare them with napa cabbage kimchi produced by students in inquiry-based food chemistry learning. The product evaluation results indicate that bamboo shoot kimchi has a high level of similarity to napa cabbage kimchi in terms of texture, while the similarity in aroma is moderate and the similarity in taste is low.
Nurdianti AwaliyahTuti KurniatiFrestika Dania Yanti
